Glorified Slave. Customer Care Champion. Project Manager in the making. Launching SM Mezza Residences - Commercial Spaces soon. I work on all holidays and weekends. I get only one rest day which should be a lean weekday. I don't get paid for doing overtime work. No perks and the workload is shit. Good training, though.

I was really keen on practicing Structural Design. I'm still up for it. Although, for now I think God is sending me a memo that goes like this:

unsa man mga dong? i'm back from the mountains of danao, cebu. glad to be back, but still, there are demons to face which is, on one hand, good. just proves i'm still here and fighting. there are so many things i realized when i was away. one of them was the cruelty of having to work ridiculously hard (not that i worked THAT hard) and also being away from family and friends you dearly love. but anyway, i wouldn't mind going back there, actually. the project's just really one of a kind and delicate. they say the harder it is to achieve something, the more its worth is. besides, the experience and the opportunity to save some money for myself and my family are two good reasons, too.

now making small, simple but noteworthy changes in my life. happy-happy!

in other news, three of us in my core group are going through some rough times but i know we'll all pull through. cess, hurry back! :)

hi.

okay, so here's my story.

got pulled out from our project in makati and was flown here in danao, cebu last wednesday night. set-up our now very complete site office with construction manager josef (lolo). today we have started working 7/24 (yes, it's REALLY 7/24), and for now i am on the nightshift. from our resort (www.elsalvadorresort.com) in danao, we travel about 10 minutes to get to the foot of the mountain, 35 minutes to get into the middle of nowhere, and a 15-minute hike up the first borehole.

this tough and delicate project is the first of its kind in the whole company and also in our offices worldwide (www.bauer.de). every day we are faced with major and minor troubles, try to come up with possible solutions, LEARN, and hope for the best. everything can be so frustrating, but my only consolation is that, after this project (whether it goes well or not), i will be one of the privileged few engineers to have handled this kind of work. nobody really knows how to work this and by that, i am afraid to NOT deliver. surprisingly, i'm glad to have talked to stefan (one of our german PM's) last night when we went out (hurrah! i saw lights and the city!) for dinner and ottinger (wheat beer, see photos). he made me feel a bit secure. true. i shouldn't worry too much. :) oh, we saw christopher de leon. the waitresses ogled over him. too bad christopher de leon didn't see rac roldan ;)

for now, i'm saying homesickness sucks. it kills. the working conditions are relatively good. it's just that when i miss people, that gets me really down. but i'll get used to it. i think i already am. bit by bit :) can't really do much aside from work and sleep (4 hours is heaven!). hopefully in the future i could tour cebu. but for now it's impossible. the resort is very nice but i don't have the luxury of time to explore and maximize it's amenities. thank god for sun cellular and internet. these are the 2 things that keep me sane here.

let the pictures (which i will be uploading from time to time) do the talking. the photos might appear that everything is nice and easy and fun but it's otherwise. oh well. fun is okay. i'm learning to lurve it, though. that's what matters.

sa wakas, after 7 long, grueling years, i am now a licensed civil engineer. maraming salamat po sa lahat ng mga dasal at suporta. magpapaburger ako! hahaha! i never expected this to happen. the test was so hard and i was more prepared last november. for once, parang gumaling akong manghula.

my best mates val, denise and cess (idagdag na rin si engr. idol pat villavicencio who gave me 2 1-peso coins to put in my soles during the boards) can attest to my awful study habits and the lack thereof. but frankly, i couldn't have done it without them, my dear best mates. one is truly blessed to have friends like them. thank you.

to my folks who never grew tired of me asking for daily baons, pamasahe and other stuff, mahal ko po kayo. sacrifice means you two.

i have been attending morning masses every day for 2 or 3 weeks now and i must say, the discipline to keep at it is great. every day, god gives us reasons (and the grace to recognize the need) to redeem ourselves, and god also gives us opportunities to do so.

spent a very tiring afternoon with roch and ate ebet teaching some ayala peeps for their xmas p arty presentation. walked around glorietta, bought a good book and stayed in starbux for a couple of hours while waiting for my rendezvous with the sorely missed sorority girls. had a wonderful dinner at ebun in greenbelt 3, organized a slumber-xmas party at alabang on the 21st, met a couple of new acquaintances (ernest and joyce of ust interior design) thru karen, strolled aro und eastwood with mareng chelsie.

i'm trying to keep myself busy. dapat nag-aaral na ako for the retake. but sometimes, i just can't help but think how unfair life can be to me. i know, i know. i'm not one to say things like that. i'm strong, i know i am.

i keep saying regrets don't have a place in my heart. but if there's one thing i regret, that is taking too long in college. although i am extremely grateful and i couldn't have been the person i am today if not for all my experiences over the years, finishing college on time wouldn't have been bad, either, right? anyway...

i'm used to making things happen for myself. growing up in a family that just had enough, i had to content myself with whatever is given to me. but i am a dreamer. and i am a go-getter. and when i want something, i focus. although sometimes it takes me a loooong time to finally get things, at least i still do. and i'm damn proud of that.

my batch mates and i, with all the support from family and friends, prepared for the board exams. countless sleepless nights, costly meals and fare were spent over the past months. november 17 and 18 came and left us all with hyped up anxiety. 2 out of 3 subjects were unbelievably hard and there were problems with no answers (so gudlak na lang kung anong pipiliin mong sagot). the 2nd subject, hydraulics and geotechnical engineering, was easy for everybody (except for me as i never really got to study that field). 'yun na nga lang ang pa-consuelo. tapos 'yun pa ang isasama sa retake.

anyway, this "retake," at least in my case, serves as another blow to me and to any other young man/woman who's trying to find a spot in this dog-eat-dog world. PRC has done it again! let it be known that i, will never be like the "professionals" working in the commission.

this is getting depressing. so i'm turning this blog around.
